I started the day with a special treat: raisin bran and milk... Yesterday, God blessed me with some cheap food. The Dollar Store next to the employment office is closing, so all of their food was at 40% off. I will have to learn to like pasta this month. (LOL) I also found some thank you notes for only 10 cents. They will help with my job search...
I had to give Tidbit some more food. I laughed to myself at how much she can eat. Like owner, like bird... (LOL)
The only rule for my "diet" this month is not to eat as much as in 2007 and not to eat between meals... sounds easier said than done! I wish I didn't eat so much when I am under stress...That is my greatest downfall. The bad part of being single is that I get so wrapped up trying to do everything that I forget to take time out just to chill... I pray that 2008 will have lots and lots of chilling moments! =.)
The Microsoft Word on my computer has expired and I do not have a printer. I was able to use the Microsoft Word at the employment office and was able to use the printer there. I completed a little "cheat" sheet to make the application process faster when I go apply for jobs, and I updated my State of Texas application and printed it out, too.
On the last day of the year, I wrote an email to my ex-boss to ask him if he was saying something to keep me from obtaining employment. I received an email, saying that no one had called to ask about me. I don't believe that, but at least I have put that worry out of my head. If he was saying something bad, he knows now not to do it anymore, and if someone else is doing it, he knows now to stop them from doing it...
I had to talk to a worker to get the information for a couple of temporary jobs. I am appalled that they are only paying $9 for the work that I used to do, but it is because they are only looking for a person with a high school diploma... Same work, less pay... not too great...
I stayed for the lecture on interviews, but I was the only one there, so I got some one-on-one. The woman said that my resume might look a bit intimidating to someone who might not be too sure of themselves. I thought that was funny, but I do not plan to change my resume except to revamp it to show that I am a bit more organized. Other than that, she said that she felt that I was doing everything right, so I am happy that it wasn't something that I did or failed to do... She did say, however, that the reason why I haven't been hired by the people I used to work for is that they do not rehire people who leave without a two-week notice... If they had told me, I wouldn't have wasted my time applying for those jobs... It's just too much of a waste of time to be spinning my wheels on jobs that I do not have an opportunity to get...
The conversation was helpful and insightful...The only thing is that I broke out in tears when I mentioned my wornout suit... My first tears of the year... It's too soon for tears... The only tears I want to cry this year are tears of joy...
As you can see, I haven't taken the time to work on graphics. I thank God that there are people out there who make such beautiful graphics, but when you make your own, it is so much more personal... I miss that...
Well, I'm off to get ready for church... Make today a great day!

I know what you mean, hard to diet when you have to buy cheap foods...that's part of my prob too. Can't buy healthy & fresh, have to buy what's on sale & what I can aford.
I too, stress eat & tend to binge when things are bad or I'm worried. grrr
You'll find a job soon, there's the perfect one out there waiting for you.
Graphics? Don't worry about them, do the important stuff & all will fall into place.
Keeping you in my prayers.
Hugs,
Sugar

I think you have everything,a good head on you a bright bubbly personality, smartly dressed your suit cannot be that bad Winivere, or I do not think you would wear it, for interviews for employment. It might seem it to you, but to others I bet it looks lovely on you.I know you complain of your weight, but I think big or small if people are beautiful on the inside too thats all that matters and you are both whatever size you are ..Are they crazy those interviewers what do they want GOLD.I cannot believe the amount of people in differant states who are finding work so hard to get in the USA.Prayers continueing to be said.Enjoy Church. You Take Care God Bless Kath astoriasand http://journals.aol.co.uk/astoriasand/MYSIMPLERHYMES

I'm really glad that you got that one-on-one help!!! Have you gone to temp agencies for at least some in-between work, while your looking for a job. Sometimes those jobs hire the temp workers. I'm glad that your outlook for 2008 is good, I know you'll find a job soon!!

Have you checked federal employment. They hire strictly through the web site USA Jobs.com. I know it has to seem like a nightmare right now. I have a job but really cannot make ends meet with two of my children grown up but still dependent but I have no idea what I would do without it. Love n Hugs, Chris
Well done you for ringing the old company to find out what was going on. I do not think I would've been brave enough to do that :( I'm sure 2008 will bring something along soon, keep holding on xx
